Pirate treasure, communication skills arrrrrr at the core of this Summer Enrichment class

"X" marks the spot this week in the Warwick Valley Central School District's Summer Enrichment Program.

Instructor Michelle Howard has been leading a group of treasure hunters through a week-long journey filled with STEM-and-pirate-themed activities! The class -- Calling All Treasure Hunters -- is made up of students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Today, they were busy with two creative projects, designing their own treasure chests and spyglasses. They were also preparing for their afternoon treasure hunt, during which they had to search the classroom high and low for clothes pins. Each clothes pin had part of a larger "secret message" on it, which the students had to decipher working together and using their best decoding skills. 

Today, the students will be answering a series of progressive puzzles to make it out of an escape room and discover lost pirate gold. And on Friday, it's an epic treasure hunt filled with challenging clues and pirate shenanigans throughout all of Sanfordville Elementary!
