WVMS Drama Club delights audiences with Matilda Jr. 

Months of rehearsals, long hours, and teamwork paid off this weekend as Warwick Valley Middle School’s Drama Club presented three successful performances of Matilda Jr.

Taking place on the Warwick Valley High School auditorium stage, students brought Roald Dahl’s beloved story to life through acting, music, and choreography. Enthusiastic audiences filled the auditorium, helping create an exciting and memorable experience for everyone involved.

Directed by Hayley Mistler, with Shane Peters serving as producer and music director, the production highlighted not only the talent on stage but also the dedication of students working behind the scenes on lighting, sound, and set design.

“I am so proud of how hard this cast worked,” Ms. Mistler said. “The students put in a lot of time and rehearsals into this production. It was the best feeling watching the cast shine on stage.”

The annual spring production continues to be a highlight of the middle school year, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and student voice.

As Principal Jared Yapkowitz noted, “Their work embodies the district’s Portrait of a Graduate attributes, with students demonstrating teamwork, communication, and a willingness to take creative risks.”

With their dedication and enthusiasm, the cast and crew made this year’s Matilda Jr. an unforgettable success for the Warwick Valley community.
